"What" in Thai language we say "a-rai " (อะไร).
You can just point at the thing that you want to know what it is and ask "a-rai "
Don't forget to add a polite particle to show politeness.
For men ....... "a-rai kráp" (อะไรครับ)
For women ....... "a-rai ká" (อะไรคะ)
